OT: Fun Fact

I was thinking about adding a new header image to go with the new name, so I did a quick Google image search for “California cat” half-expecting to find something hokey like a cat with shades on or a cat with a little surf board or something and it turns out there’s a breed of cat I’d never heard of called California Spangled, and it looks like a mini leopard  ^.^


So pretty. And I like the use of the word spangled. Makes me think of The Cat from Red Dwarf and his “cute little black number with peach trim and gold spangles” line.

Anyway … even if I might only have an audience of 1 or 2, I think I’ll go back to actually posting to this journal once in awhile. Later  =P

There hasn’t been too much to talk about, since the change in plans regarding the move kind of stalled my life-progress. I’ve mostly been packing, capturing Silent Hill Downpour footage, and being obsessed with Red Dwarf lately. So not a whole lot going on.

But, today, I found myself looking over old posts and I realized there have been some developments (and lack thereof) in my routine that I figure I could talk a bit about.

Primal Egg Coffee – I actually stopped doing it, but not really intentionally at first. Basically I didn’t buy enough eggs one week to be able to do it, so I didn’t for that week … and for some reason I suddenly didn’t find myself famished by the time I got to work, and haven’t been since. So I just stopped. It was a little inconvenient anyway–I was willing to do it as long as it was helpful, but if I don’t have the need, no point it using that extra time in the morning that could be spent kicking back at my monitor. I still think it’s a neat thing to do, and I still recommend it if you find your coffee won’t get you through to breakfast time–but if you don’t need it … eh, no real point.

No Soap or Toothpaste – Still doing this. Still think it works well. My showers are a bit longer because I haven’t really come up with a routine, per se, if that makes any sense, but I’m just as clean as when I was using soap, so I’m good. Still using Shampoo and conditioner, but sparingly. I may try not using at least conditioner one of these weekends just to see what happens.

As for no-toothpaste, I think it might actually be an improvement there–I think MAYBE my teeth feel cleaner longer than when I was using toothpaste … but I could be wrong. At the very least, I’ve found I just don’t need toothpaste. Still use a little bit of peppermint extract, but that’s it–now I put maybe a drop in the cap, fill the rest with water, then dip the brush in that. A little harder getting the coffee taste off my tongue, but it’s worth it.

As for my face … I umm … really don’t wash it anymore, exactly. It gets plenty of hot water on it in the shower, but I don’t really scrub it or anything. Complexion has not really cleared up, but it’s not any worse than it was. In the morning, I mainly just give it a quick wipe with a hot damp washcloth. That’s it. It’s crazy to think I used to scrub the hell out of it with soap at night, and used witch hazel in the morning … and the results weren’t any better. I suppose it COULD be less oily–or else, maybe I just don’t notice now that I’ve come to terms with the fact that oil on your skin isn’t a bad thing.

Giving up Dairy – Kind of put that on hold for a little while … and I think I’m noticing a difference in my sinus problems–they never totally cleared up during the week or two that I was off dairy, but now that I’m back on it for a little while (the reason is dumb–I ended up with more dairy products in the fridge than I thought I had and I decided not to waste it) I think I do notice that it’s gotten worse again. So I do think that lack of dairy is a good thing, and once there’s no more dairy products in the fridge, I’m gonna try to at least mostly stay off of it.

Primal Blueprint Fitness – I’ve been mostly keeping up with it. Not much else to say in that area–I’m on … I think my third week of doing it? One week I slacked off, so it’s hard to say how much it is or isn’t helping. I don’t really enjoy it, but it’s quick and really just involves push-ups, squats, and planks twice per week, and some sprinting once per week, along with my daily 25 minutes of walking. I just power through it and get it over with. The sprinting is especially brutal, but I just do it and get it out of the way, and it’s done until the next week. So not too bad in the long run (so to speak =P).

I think that’s it for updates on earlier posts that I could think of.

Here’s a bonus random fun fact before I end this entry: I’ve been eating a small piece of cake every day because my birthday was Saturday, so how does my body react? Dropping that pound it was holding onto for the last couple weeks. LOLWUT?
